Alexey Miller's column
Speech by Alexey Miller at “Global Oil and Gas Market: Then and Now” Panel Session
“I am happy to welcome you at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum! Today, I would like to touch upon a number of very important, fundamental issues. I think all of you will agree that we are witnessing very serious, tectonic changes that take place in commodity markets. And most importantly, economic paradigms are changing.
For instance, the Bretton Woods II system is waning. We see gas price shocks, we see ultra-high volatility in commodity markets and very high inflation. But all of this started not yesterday and not today. And here one has to say ”a big thank you,” in air quotes, to foreign regulators, namely, European ones."
Contemporary art fair 1703 opens in St. Petersburg
“We are running many joint projects with the St. Petersburg administration. These projects are designed to promote education, culture, preservation of the historical part of our beloved city. The art fair is absolutely an extension of this ambitious work.
At the same time, the fair is a sign of respect – respect for Peter the Great as a person and for efforts towards nurturing and preserving the rich cultural and historical legacy of Russia.
And I am convinced that the people with fire in their hearts who are in charge of this fair will keep bringing the best traditions of Russian art into the future. I am convinced that the art fair will become a traditional event, taking an important, iconic place among Russia's cultural initiatives and gaining widespread recognition.”
Gazprom congratulates St. Petersburg on 350th anniversary of birth of Peter I
“The paintings showcased here are essentially an invisible thread tying generations together and creating historical continuity in the fates and fortunes of our Fatherland. Needless to say, these artworks are also honoring the great name of Peter I, the great reformer. It is very fitting that the exhibition was revived in its historical place, the Field of Mars, in the very heart of the Russian Empire's capital, Peter's creation.”
