Speech by Alexey Miller at conference call on occasion of New Year’s Eve
On behalf of the Management Committee and on my own behalf, let me wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
2016 was a successful year for Gazprom in spite of the challenging macroeconomic environment. We achieved every single business target we had set. In many ways, it was a year of record highs. But those are not just records for the sake of records. Those figures definitively show that we improved the reliability, sustainability and safety of gas supplies to consumers in Russia and beyond.
Speech by Alexey Miller at St. Petersburg International Gas Forum
“The current level of global energy prices makes it impossible to tackle those tasks of the global economy that can be solved only with the help of gas. It means that in the very near future we will definitely witness an upward trend of energy price growth around the world.”
Speech by Alexey Miller at Eastern Economic Forum 2016
“Today, Gazprom is the world's leader in terms of natural gas production, as well as in terms of exports. The Company is the leading pipeline gas supplier. Our current projects are breaking new ground in the gas industry. The gas trunklines being built by Gazprom are the world's most advanced long-distance pipelines. I am pleased to note that we have reached an operating pressure of 120 atmospheres in the gas trunklines we construct.”
Message delivered by Alexey Miller at conference call marking Oil and Gas Industry Workers Day
“Dear colleagues, let me wish you a happy Oil and Gas Industry Workers Day.
We know perfectly well that our work is needed today and will be needed tomorrow. Every day, we put effort into providing people's homes with gas, electricity, and heat. I wish every single one of you a happy holiday. May you have good health, happiness, well-being, and – of course – further success in your work.”
Speech by Alexey Miller at the annual General Shareholders Meeting of Gazprom
“In 2015, Gazprom demonstrated that it was able to achieve good results even with low hydrocarbon prices. The Company managed to keep a fast pace in implementing production programs. We strengthened our resource base and ramped up our production capacities. We increased gas exports to Europe and oil production volumes. We confirmed the financial sustainability of our business and continued to work on large-scale projects.”
Alexey Miller speaks at Geo-Economics of Large-Scale Infrastructure Projects panel session at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum
“Nord Stream 2 is currently running on schedule, with tendering procedures underway. For instance, a pipe supply tender for the offshore section has already taken place. Just a few weeks ago, Gazprom had an offsite meeting with Russian pipe manufacturers. As you know, Russian manufacturers were awarded contracts for 60 per cent of pipe supplies within the Nord Stream 2 project. So the venue for our traditional offsite meeting was chosen for a reason, as Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant is one of the tender winners. The pipe is already being manufactured and all is going according to the plan.
In the near future, we will select the companies for pipe laying operations. The pipe laying will start in early 2018. The Nord Stream 2 project is on track. We have no doubt that additional export capacities will be created within the preset time limits, that is before the end of 2019, for 55 billion cubic meters of gas to be supplied directly, avoiding transit, from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea.”
Alexey Miller speaks at Cooperation in the Energy Sector as a Stabilizing Factor for the Global Economy Conference during IBC Annual General Meeting
“Today's event is dedicated to the energy industry as a crucial factor of long-term competitiveness. Reliable, sufficient, and affordable energy supply is key to business expansion and stable economic growth. And that is true for every region of the world.
At present, the European economy has an increasing demand for imported gas. The European Union's domestic production is steadily declining and this trend will continue to strengthen in the coming years.
Over 10 years, the import share in the European consumption of natural gas has climbed significantly to almost 50 per cent. In 2015, gas consumption went up by 4 per cent against 2014.
European demand for imported gas will grow. According to our estimates, Europe will need no less than 100 billion cubic meters of additional gas per year by 2025.
It should be noted that nowadays there is no infrastructure to supply those extra 100 billion cubic meters to Europe. It is well known that gas project life cycles are longer than one or two years. In order to secure additional gas supplies in 10 years, we need to create the required gas transmission capacities now.
To this end, Gazprom consistently pursues the strategy of establishing new export routes. Our non-transit Nord Stream pipeline is operating efficiently.
Drawing on the success of Nord Stream, a number of European companies cooperate with Gazprom to create a new export trunkline, Nord Stream 2. As this project responds to the interests of Europe's energy majors and their clients alike, it will without a doubt be of immense value to the European continent.”
