Background

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024 is being held at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 5 to 8. The main theme of this year's Forum is “The Formation of New Areas of Growth as the Cornerstone of a Multipolar World.”

In June 2023, Gazprom and the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the two-year Contract for Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan and the Roadmap for preparing the gas transmission system of Uzbekistan for the reception and transmission of Russian pipeline gas.

In October 2023, the ceremony was held to mark the start of Russian natural gas supplies to the consumers of Uzbekistan across the territory of Kazakhstan. The gas supplies are arranged in reverse flow via a dedicated route that uses the Central Asia – Center gas trunkline system.

In November 2023, Gazprom and the Government of Uzbekistan signed the Strategic Memorandum of Cooperation in the energy complex. Under the document, the parties will expand their cooperation in gas supplies and transportation, as well as in geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
