Gazprom expanding production and supply of liquefied natural gas

The Gazprom Management Committee took note of the information about the ongoing work on implementing the projects for the production and supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

It was noted that, in the northwestern part of Russia, the mid-scale Complex for LNG production, storage and shipment located near the Portovaya CS has been in operation since September 2022. Both gas carrier ships and tank trucks are used for LNG shipments. Some 1.4 million tons of LNG have already been shipped to consumers since the launch of said Complex.

Natural gas liquefaction capacities are being created as part of the Complex for processing ethane-containing gas near the settlement of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Region. This enterprise will become Gazprom's second large-scale LNG production facility along with the LNG plant that is currently in operation in Russia's Far East within the Sakhalin II project.

Gazprom is systematically working with Russian enterprises to develop the manufacture of high-tech import-substituting equipment used for LNG production.

Gazprom pays special attention to the construction of small-scale LNG complexes. These complexes, inter alia, make it possible to provide off-grid gas supplies to the consumers located far away from gas pipelines. Thus, in September 2023, Gazprom launched the small-scale LNG complex in the Amur Region. The complex provides liquefied natural gas mainly for the new gas boiler house that is currently under construction in the Amurselmash urban district of Belogorsk.

In addition, LNG is being increasingly used as an eco-friendly vehicle fuel. At present, start-up and commissioning operations are underway at Gazprom's LNG complex in the Volgograd Region. The products will be delivered to Volgograd for refueling public transport vehicles.

For more than a year, Gazprom Neft has been regularly providing LNG bunkering of sea vessels in the port of Ust-Luga in the Gulf of Finland. The servicing of vessels – railroad ferries to Kaliningrad and oil tankers – is performed by Russia's first LNG bunkering vessel, Dmitry Mendeleev. More than 50 refueling operations have been performed since Dmitry Mendeleev was put into operation.

The issue of the ongoing work on implementing the projects for the production and supply of LNG will be submitted for consideration by the Gazprom Board of Directors.
