Access to network gas provided to new consumers in Russian regions

RELEASE

The commissioning ceremony for new facilities which will be used to supply pipeline gas to Russian consumers took place today at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2023.

Taking part in the event were Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Nikolai Shulginov, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Andrey Turchak, First Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party, Sergey Gustov, Director General of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, and heads of administrations of Russian regions.

Inter-settlement and intra-settlement gas pipelines were brought into operation in three constituent entities of the Russian Federation: the Ulyanovsk, Leningrad and Saratov Regions. Conditions required for providing gas to consumers were created in the rural settlements of Malaya Borla and Bolshaya Borla (Ulyanovsk Region), Olgino, Maryino and Vladimirovka (Leningrad Region), and Podgornoye (Saratov Region).

In Bolshaya Borla, Podgornoye and Maryino, the first consumers have already been connected to gas networks.

In five constituent entities of the Russian Federation, natural gas was fed to heat supply facilities.

In the Amur Region, a gas boiler house was put into operation in District 54 of the Svobodny town. The boiler house replaced the one powered by diesel fuel that previously served 43 apartment houses, two kindergartens, a school, and an outpatient clinic.

In the Ivanovo Region, a gas boiler house was launched in the new warehouse for storage and shipment of ready products at a livestock breeding enterprise located in the Ivankovo village, Furmanovsky District.

In the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, natural gas was fed to the boiler house of the Teberda Nature Reserve. The boiler house was previously fired by fuel oil. For the Teberda resort, said boiler house is the third and final heat supply facility converted to the eco-friendly fuel.

In the Republic of Mordovia, the boiler house of the 17th-century Sanaksar Monastery of the Nativity of the Mother of God was retrofitted to run on gas. The boiler house previously ran on coal and firewood.

In the Chelyabinsk Region, gas was fed to the new gas boiler house of Zlatoust. The facility will be used to enhance the reliability of heat supplies in the city.

In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a renovated gas pipeline connecting the gas distribution networks of the Bor city to GDS-3 in Nizhny Novgorod was put into operation, thus providing access to network gas to new regional consumers.

In eight regions of the Russian Federation, consumers were provided with access to grid gas as a result of additional gas infrastructure expansion.

More specifically, network gas is now available for households in the rural settlements of Volzhskoye (Astrakhan Region) and Fofantsevo (Vologda Region), the resort city of Anapa (Krasnodar Territory), the town of Chudovo (Novgorod Region), the Pikhtovaya Strelka urban district in Perm (Perm Region), and the city of Ussuriysk (Primorye Territory).

Apart from that, boiler houses of two schools were converted from coal to gas in the villages of Mikhailovo-Alexandrovka (Rostov Region) and Kuzovka (Tula Region).

The Single client center was opened in the Malmyzh town of the Kirov Region for the consumers to receive information about the opportunities and procedure for getting connected to gas networks, apply for additional gas grid expansion, as well as enter into contracts for gas supply and maintenance of gas equipment in their houses and apartments. The client center will be able to provide its services to about 30,000 visitors a year.

“Gas infrastructure expansion means, first of all, a better quality of life for Russian citizens. Gazprom continues the active work on making the benefits of natural gas available to as many Russian residents as possible. This area of activities is one of our priorities.

All instructions issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin with regard to social gas infrastructure expansion are being strictly complied with. It is with absolute confidence that we are reaching the goal of achieving a 100 per cent technically possible gas grid development in Russia,” said Alexey Miller.

Background

St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2023 is being held at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 31 to November 3.

Gazprom is actively working to expand gas infrastructure in 72 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: the Company ensures the construction, renovation and technical upgrade of gas pipeline branches and gas distribution stations (GDSs), as well as builds inter-settlement and intra-settlement gas pipelines. Within the localities already covered by the gas grid, Gazprom performs additional gas grid expansion, i.e. lays gas pipelines to the boundaries of private households and to boiler houses of medical facilities and educational entities.
