The Izmeron factory is among Russia's largest developers and manufacturers of downhole equipment for the oil and gas industry. Gazprom is the key customer for the products of the enterprise. For many years, the Company has been purchasing complexes of underground equipment from the factory, inter alia, for their use at the fields located in Yamal, Eastern Siberia, the Southern Ural, and southern Russia.

The parties actively cooperate in the field of developing cutting-edge high-tech domestic equipment. For instance, specially for Gazprom, Izmeron has launched the batch production of carbonic acid-resistant and hydrogen sulfide-resistant downhole equipment, which is currently in use at the Urengoyskoye, Orenburgskoye and Astrakhanskoye fields.

The participants of the opening ceremony took a tour of the factory's new production premises. The spaces and facilities they visited included the site for thermal treatment of billets; deep hole drilling machines and high precision machines for complex parts; and the equipment test benches that simulate downhole conditions (the pressure of up to 115 MPa and the relevant working temperature).

It was noted that due to this upgrade of the production capacities the enterprise can now increase the output of equipment and expand the lineup of its products from 50 to 200 items.

“The cooperation between Izmeron and Gazprom is long-standing and successful. The basis for this is, of course, the high quality of the products manufactured by the Izmeron factory. Downhole equipment is widely used by Gazprom during the pre-development of the Company's fields and during the creation of new gas production centers, that is, in Yamal, in Eastern Siberia, in the Far East. And this means that together we make a contribution to the energy security of Russia in the 21st century.

There is no doubt that the development of Izmeron means the development of the sci-tech capacities of Russia, the gas industry and our beloved city of St. Petersburg,” said Alexey Miller.

Background

Research and Production Factory Izmeron manufactures high-tech downhole equipment for producing, and intensifying the production of, oil and gas. The plant's products are designed for, inter alia, operation in aggressive environments. Izmeron designs, manufactures and sells complexes of underground equipment for well construction and underground gas storage facilities, as well as tools for their workover. The enterprise carries out scientific research aimed at the development of new equipment.

Gazprom is the largest customer for the enterprises that form the industrial complex of St. Petersburg. Since 2015, the Government of St. Petersburg and Gazprom have been working together to promote the use of high-tech products manufactured by the city's enterprises, including import-substituting products, to the benefit of Gazprom.

To this date, as many as 140 enterprises of St. Petersburg are involved in this work. They manufacture a wide range of products that are used at the oil and gas industry facilities, including pipes and fittings of various configurations, power equipment, test and measurement equipment, telecommunications equipment, network security tools, and IT platforms. For instance, the Ladoga gas compressor units, which are the most powerful gas compressor units in Russia, are produced in St. Petersburg in compliance with Gazprom's stringent requirements and are then used in the Company's large-scale investment projects that are of strategic importance to Russia.

The list of enterprises is constantly being extended. In 2021, a Coordination Agreement on the development of the industrial potential of St. Petersburg for the needs of gas industry was signed between the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Government of St. Petersburg and Gazprom for the purpose of expanding the areas of cooperation.
