Continuing reduction being observed in Russian consumers’ overdue debt for gas delivered by Gazprom

RELEASE

The Gazprom Board of Directors took note of the information about the strengthening of the payment discipline with regard to domestic supplies of natural gas.

Being a reliable supplier of gas, Gazprom provides Russian consumers with this affordable and eco-friendly source of energy in the required amounts. In order to enhance the efficiency of the gas market development, Gazprom, jointly with government authorities, is implementing a set of measures to improve the financial discipline with regard to the payments for the ongoing gas supplies and to reduce the overdue debt for the supplied gas.

These measures include the updating of customer databases, the monitoring of the compliance with the approved debt repayment schedules, the filing of legal claims, and the preparation of proposals aimed at improving the current legislation concerning gas payments.

Due to these efforts, the total outstanding consumer debt is decreasing for the second year in a row. Throughout 2022, it was reduced by RUB 9.4 billion to RUB 163.1 billion. Debt reduction is demonstrated by heat suppliers and private consumers. As many as 60 constituent entities of the Russian Federation reduced their debt in 2022, with these efforts being most successful in the Krasnodar, Perm and Stavropol Territories.

In parallel, Gazprom is actively developing digital services for the convenience of its consumers. For instance, since 2015, the Company's clients have been able to use the portal with their personal accounts to pay their gas bills and submit gas meter readings. In 2022, the number of the clients who have used this digital service increased by 56 per cent. As a result, consumer payments made via online services doubled.

The Management Committee was tasked with continuing the work aimed at strengthening the payment discipline with regard to domestic supplies of natural gas.
