Gazprom and Roscosmos discuss ongoing cooperation in high-tech

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Yury Borisov, Director General of State Space Corporation Roscosmos, took place today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023.

The parties discussed the main areas of cooperation. In particular, the meeting addressed the construction progress of the spacecraft assembly facility of Gazprom in the Moscow Region. At present, the construction of the staff amenities building is nearing completion at the facility and the equipment of the assembly sites and test benches is being installed.

With support from Roscosmos, the enterprise will manufacture for Gazprom such spacecraft as Yamal communication satellites and SMOTR optical and radar surveillance satellites for remote sensing of the Earth. Their creation is provided for by the roadmap for developing the high-tech area of activity “Prospective space systems and services” for the period until 2030.

Background

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023 is being held at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 14 to 17. This year's main theme is ”Sovereign Development at the Basis of a Just World: Joining Forces for Future Generations.”

In January 2023, the agreement of intent aimed at advancing the hi-tech area of activity “Prospective space systems and services” was signed between the Government of the Russian Federation, State Space Corporation Roscosmos and a number of Russian organizations and companies, including Gazprom.
