Gazprom to become title sponsor of first-ever “Games of Future” International Multi-Sport Tournament

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, took place today at the Company's headquarters in the Lakhta Center.
The parties discussed the contribution made by the Company to implementing socially significant projects in the sphere of charity, culture and sports.
It was noted that, for many years, Gazprom has been systematically participating in the development of the sports movement in Russia. Under the Gazprom for Children project, the Company is creating modern infrastructure across the country to bring up robust, healthy, strong, and sporty youth. Gazprom actively promotes the development of professional sports, supports national sports federations and provides its help in holding highest-level competitions.
During the meeting, in the presence of Alexey Miller and Dmitry Chernyshenko, documents were signed for Gazprom to support and become the title sponsor of the “Games of the Future” International Multi-Sport Tournament, the first-ever tournament that brings physical culture and cybersports together. The competitions will take place in 2024 in Kazan.
The “Games of the Future” is a large-scale sports event. The tournament is aimed at supporting the movement to develop innovative sports that combine digital technologies with physical activity and integrating them with classic sports.
Background
The competitions will be held in 16 hybrid disciplines, each of them representing the concept of phygital (physical+digital), i.e. combining physical culture with either cybersports or VR and augmented reality technologies. The tournament is expected to bring together teams and sportsmen from 100 countries worldwide.
The “Games of the Future” tournament is organized by Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Agency for the Development of Computer Sports” and Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Directorate for Sports and Social Projects”.
