Connection of medical facilities and educational entities to gas network starts in terms of free-of-charge additional gas grid expansion
RELEASE
Release
The Gazprom Board of Directors took note of the information about the progress of gas infrastructure expansion targeted at schools and medical facilities in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
It was noted that on March 1, 2023, the Single operator of gas infrastructure expansion (SO, Gazprom Gazifikatsiya) had commenced the collection of applications for bringing pipeline gas to the boiler houses of outpatient clinics, hospitals, rural outpatient & obstetric units, and educational entities on a free-of-charge basis in terms of additional gas grid expansion.
As of the date, said applications have been submitted by as many as 34 regions of Russia, including the Novosibirsk and Rostov Regions, the Krasnodar Territory, and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The applications are the basis for the SO to conclude relevant contracts with future consumers. The first of such contracts has already been executed: the boiler house of the secondary school in the settlement of Zavodskoy (Parabelsky District, Tomsk Region) has been connected to the gas grid.
Applications continue to be collected. Preliminary estimates show that over 1,500 medical facilities and 1,700 educational entities will be able to take part in the additional gas grid expansion program in the areas falling under the responsibility of the gas distribution entities of the Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Group.
The Management Committee was tasked with continuing the work on gas infrastructure expansion targeted at schools and medical facilities in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
Background
The SO is the single responsibility center for gas infrastructure expansion and provision of free connections to gas distribution networks in 72 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the Sirius federal territory.
On October 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an instruction to extend beyond 2022 the social gas infrastructure expansion program within localities already covered by the gas grid, and to ensure that technological connections to gas distribution networks are established for the gas-using equipment of outpatient clinics, hospitals, rural outpatient & obstetric units, and educational entities at no cost to such facilities.
