Gazprom proposes that next edition of World Construction Championship be held in St. Petersburg

Today, at a meeting led by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, the Company took stock of its participation in the Second World Construction Championship which was held in Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan).
In 2022, Gazprom for the first time co-organized the event and took part in its competitions.
Employees of leading subsidiaries and contracting organizations represented the Company at the Championship. They demonstrated successful performance by taking 14 prize-winning places in 20 team and individual categories.
“The World Construction Championship has shown that the Gazprom employees are professional, ambitious and talented. It is you and us who set sector-wide benchmarks today, and not only in the traditional gas sector categories, but in the construction-related categories, too.
Jointly with the founders, we will of course take every effort to ensure that this competition becomes the number one specialized professional international platform.
And we have proposed to the founders that they hold the next edition of the Championship in St. Petersburg – the city which is both home and business place for Gazprom's headquarters,” said Alexey Miller.
Background
The First World Construction Championship was held in Sochi in 2021. The second edition of the event took place in Kazan in 2022 with the participation of Gazprom.
The representatives of the Gazprom team took six of the top prizes, as well as two second places and six third places.
The top prizes were won by Gazprom in:
- the team categories of Lighting Networks and Electric Equipment Installation; Power Cables and Cable Fittings Electrical Installation; Construction Project Management; and Steel and Reinforced Concrete Structures Installation;
- the individual categories of Secondary Switching Electric Installation and Non-Destructive Testing.
Second places were taken by the Company in:
- the team category of Instrumentation & Control Installation;
- the individual category of Non-Destructive Testing.
Third places were won by Gazprom in:
- the team categories of Building Information Modeling and Design; Surveying Engineer; Process Pipelines Installation; Construction Project Management; and Best Construction Site;
- the individual category of Manual Electric Welder.
