Gazprom to develop Climate Strategy up to 2050

The Gazprom Board of Directors took note of the information about the Company's strategy of actions aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.

Gazprom implements low-carbon development plans in accordance with the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the Russian Federation with Low Greenhouse Gas Emissions to 2050.

The activities of Gazprom to a high degree conform to the global trend of low-carbon development, as a considerable share in the Company's product portfolio is given to natural gas – the most eco-friendly energy carrier among the entire range of existing fossil energy sources. Owing to the unique properties of natural gas and the consistent implementation of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Gazprom Group has achieved one of the lowest carbon footprints among major oil and gas companies.

Gazprom is working on sustainable development scenarios that define long-term target indicators and strategic approaches aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The work is carried out with due consideration of the specifics and the operating conditions of the national economy, the Company's primary objectives, and the trend of low-carbon development. These scenarios will be used as the basis for the development of the Company's Climate Strategy.

The Board of Directors tasked the Management Committee with developing the Climate Strategy of Gazprom up to 2050 and submitting the document for consideration in 2023.
