Alexey Miller and Moldova’s President Igor Dodon discuss cooperation issues

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Igor Dodon, President of the Republic of Moldova, took place today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019.
The parties reviewed the course and prospects of cooperation in the energy sector, including issues related to the supplies of Russian gas to Moldova and its transit through the country's territory.
The meeting participants reached agreements on starting the negotiation process regarding the terms and conditions of the new gas supply and transit contracts (from January 1, 2020).
Background
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019 is being held at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 6 to 8. This year's key topic is Creating a Sustainable Development Agenda.
In 2018, Gazprom's gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova totaled 2.9 billion cubic meters of gas, an increase of 8.4 per cent against 2017 (2.7 billion cubic meters).
The contracts between Gazprom and Moldovagaz for gas supplies to and gas transit across Moldova are valid until the end of 2019.
Moldovagaz is a joint Russian-Moldovan company set up by Gazprom, the Moldovan Government, and the Ministry of Industry of Transnistria.
