Alexey Miller and South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov discuss gas supplies and potential expansion of regional gas infrastructure

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Anatoly Bibilov, President of the Republic of South Ossetia, took place today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018.
The meeting participants reviewed ongoing cooperation in the gas sector, focusing on gas supplies to South Ossetia. The parties also discussed the prospects for the expansion of the regional gas infrastructure.
Background
In April 2010, Gazprom and the Government of South Ossetia signed the Cooperation Agreement until 2029.
In August 2009, Gazprom brought into operation the Dzuarikau – Tskhinval gas trunkline to provide direct gas supplies from the Russian Federation to South Ossetia.
Gazprom developed the General Scheme for gas infrastructure expansion in South Ossetia. The document provides for gas infrastructure expansion in some 200 population centers and the construction of over 520 and 370 kilometers of inter-settlement and intra-settlement gas pipelines, respectively.
