Alexey Miller and Luxembourgian Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider note high share of gas in Luxembourg’s energy mix

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, took place today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018.
The parties emphasized the high share of natural gas in the energy mix of Luxembourg and its key role in power generation. It was noted that gas-fired power plants had a number of advantages, including eco-friendliness and economic efficiency.
Background
The share of natural gas in Luxembourg’s energy mix is 26 per cent. However, over 90 per cent of electricity in the country is generated by gas-fired power plants.
