On working meeting between Alexey Miller and Seyyed Reza Kasaeizadeh

Gazprom’s Head Office hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Seyyed Reza Kasaeizadeh, Deputy Minister of Petroleum, Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company, Islamic Republic of Iran.
The parties discussed the execution of the Memorandum of Understanding between Gazprom and the National Iranian Oil Company.
The participants gave a positive assessment of the bilateral cooperation development in the energy field and confirmed their willingness to strengthen the mutually beneficial long-term partnership.
Background
By its proven gas reserves of 28.13 tcm Iran ranks second in the world. In 2006 Iranian gas production amounted to 105 bcm, consumption – 105.1 bcm, export – 5.7 bcm (to Turkey), import – 5.8 bcm (from Turkmenistan). The domestic natural gas consumption features very high growth rates, i.e. about 7 per cent annually.
