The Shtokmanovskoye (Shtokman) gas and condensate field was discovered in 1988. It is located in the central part of the Russian sector of the Barents Sea, around 600 kilometers northeast of Murmansk, where sea depth varies from 320 to 340 meters.

The field’s C1 reserves total 3.9 trillion cubic meters of gas and 56 million tons of gas condensate, with 3.8 trillion cubic meters of gas and 53.4 million tons of gas condensate contained in Gazprom’s licensed block.
The development of the Shtokman field is divided into three phases. Shtokman will produce 23.7 billion cubic meters of gas per year after the commissioning of the Phase 1 facilities and 47.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year after the Phase 2 facilities are brought online. The field will reach its design capacity of 71.1 billion cubic meters of gas per year in the course of Phase 3. Upon the implementation of the first few phases, there is potential for increasing Shtokman’s output depending on the situation in the target markets and the dynamics of gas demand.
Gazprom holds the license for gas and condensate prospecting, exploration and production within the Shtokman field.
