Over 700,000 families gain access to network gas as part of additional gas grid expansion in Russian regions
RELEASE
Release
The Gazprom Management Committee took note of the information about the progress of additional gas infrastructure expansion in the year 2023 in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, namely the efforts for bringing pipeline gas to the boundaries of private households and boiler houses of medical facilities and educational entities at no cost to the population and such facilities.
As of today, Russian residents have signed some 972,000 contracts with the Single operator of gas infrastructure expansion (SO, Gazprom Gazifikatsiya), regional gas infrastructure expansion operators and independent gas distribution entities (GDEs).
The SO provides timely financing to cover all economically justified expenditures of GDEs (including independent ones) and regional gas infrastructure expansion operators.
Additional gas infrastructure expansion is proceeding at a fast pace: above 700,000 (or 72 per cent) of the signed gas connection contracts have already been executed. The main contributors to the fast execution of the contracts are the GDEs of the Gazprom Group. By the beginning of September, they have laid gas pipelines to the boundaries of more than 500,000 households.
In line with the instructions of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, the work on additional gas grid expansion to cover the boiler houses of medical facilities and educational entities has been in progress since March 1, 2023. At present, said facilities and entities have submitted over 700 applications from 51 Russian regions, and a part of the corresponding contracts has already been executed.
The Management Committee also approved the 2024–2028 Comprehensive Program for the reconstruction and re-equipment of Gazprom's gas production facilities.
Background
The SO is the single responsibility center for gas infrastructure expansion and provision of free connections to gas distribution networks in 72 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the Sirius federal territory.
