Gazprom creating additional possibilities for reliable power supplies to eastern Russian regions

The Gazprom Management Committee took note of the information about the development of the gas transmission infrastructure and the expansion of the gas supply and gas infrastructure network in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, including generating facilities.

It was noted that Gazprom consistently develops the gas production and transmission capacities in eastern Russia. With the aim of providing reliable gas supplies to the consumers in eastern regions, including generating facilities, the Company built the Sobolevo – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok, and Power of Siberia gas trunklines.

Since December 2022, the Power of Siberia gas pipeline has been in operation along its entire length of more than 3,000 kilometers, thus being the largest gas transmission system in eastern Russia. In 2023, in terms of the scheduled build-up of capacities, the Company will bring onstream over 800 kilometers of the gas pipeline's loopings (pipeline segments that are laid parallel to the main pipeline string).

Power of Siberia brings gas, inter alia, to the Svobodny Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in the Amur Region. The TPP provides thermal energy (steam) and electricity to the Amur Gas Processing Plant. Gazprom plans to build the Chulman TPP in Yakutia in order to provide electricity supplies to the facilities of the Eastern Polygon of the Russian Railways network.

The capacities of the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas pipeline are being further expanded, and design development continues for new gas pipeline branches. The 2021–2025 programs for gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion of the Khabarovsk and Primorye Territories envisage the creation of the possibilities for transmitting gas to Khabarovsk's CHPP-4 which is currently under construction, as well for expanding CHPP-2 in Vladivostok.

Apart from that, in line with the instructions of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, Gazprom is working to expand the gas infrastructure in the Republic of Buryatia, the Transbaikal Territory and the urban territory of Tynda in the Amur Region, as well as to connect the Power of Siberia and Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas pipelines.

The issue of the development of the gas transmission infrastructure and the expansion of the gas supply and gas infrastructure network in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, including generating facilities, will be submitted for consideration by the Gazprom Board of Directors.

The Management Committee approved the updated Concept of Gazprom's participation in gas infrastructure expansion across the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

The Management Committee approved the 2024–2028 Comprehensive Target Program for the reconstruction and re-equipment of Gazprom's energy facilities. The document is designed to further increase the operational reliability and efficiency of power supply systems at the Company's electricity and heat supply facilities, as well as at its water supply and disposal facilities.
