Gazprom and ChelPipe discuss pipe supplies for projects in Yamal and Far East

RELEASE

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Andrey Komarov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ChelPipe, took place today in Moscow.

The parties discussed issues related to ChelPipe’s pipe supplies for Gazprom’s strategic projects in Yamal and Russia’s Far East. Particular attention was paid to the ongoing manufacturing and testing of pipes made of 25Cr Super Duplex stainless steel and UNS N06625 nickel alloy for subsea hydrocarbon production.

Background

Gazprom and ChelPipe are bound by the 2016–2020 Scientific and Technical Cooperation Program. The document defines the priority areas of collaboration in the development and production of new types of pipe products and other equipment for Gazprom.

In February 2018, Gazprom and ChelPipe signed a roadmap for the development and batch production of pipes for offshore projects. The document provides for the adoption of the technology to produce pipes from 25Cr Super Duplex steel and UNS N06625 nickel alloy. These materials make equipment used in offshore environments ultra-reliable and corrosion-resistant. No pipes of this kind are batch-produced in Russia at the moment.
