The parties agreed to look into the possibility of Roscosmos taking part in Gazprom’s project aimed at setting up a spacecraft assembly facility in the Moscow Region.

A working group will be established to implement the agreement.

Background

The 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is being held as part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.

The Roscosmos State Space Corporation carries out overall management of space activities for the benefit of science, technology and various sectors of the economy and coordinates the production of space hardware for scientific and socio-economic applications.

Gazprom’s spacecraft assembly facility project will produce world-class and cutting-edge spacecraft to be used primarily in the upgrading of the Company’s Yamal satellite communication system and the SMOTR aerospace system for remote sensing of the Earth. These space systems provide for technology linkages and monitoring of the Gazprom Group’s production facilities.

The Company-owned assembly facility is expected to reduce the costs and manufacturing time of spacecraft for Gazprom’s needs. The facility will also produce equipment for other Russian entities.
