11th Winter Spartakiada Games of Gazprom close in Ufa

The 11th Winter Spartakiada Games ended today in Ufa with a festive closing ceremony. The participants and guests of the competitions were greeted by Sergey Khomyakov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Sergey Molchanov, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Shamil Sharipov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Ufa.
The Gazprom Transgaz Surgut team took the lead among adults, the Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk team were the runners-up and Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg team moved into the third-place position.
The best children's team in the competition were athletes from Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk, the second place was won by Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta and the third – by Gazprom Transgaz Moscow.
“Our Spartakiada Games cultivate the desire to be the best and learn to win, to have the will for victory,” said Sergey Khomyakov.
Background
Gazprom has annually held Winter and Summer Spartakiada Games since 1996. The events take place in the regions of the Company's operations. The persons entitled to participate in the Spartakiada Games are employees of Gazprom's subsidiaries and organizations, as well as children active in sports clubs of Gazprom's subsidiaries and organizations. Members of Russian national teams, participants of zonal competitions, national official events and championships, European and global events and championships as well as Olympic Games are not permitted to take part in the competitions. The main goals of Gazprom's Spartakiada Games are promoting a healthy lifestyle, sharing the experience in physical training and mass sports as well as maintaining sports traditions.
