Gazprom transgaz Nizhny Novgorod team becomes champion of Gazprom’s 9th Summer Spartakiada Games

Today after the last round of competitions the Closing Ceremony for the Gazprom's 9th Summer Spartakiada Games was held in Saransk. Participating in the ceremony were Nikolai Merkushkin, Head of the Republic of Mordovia and Igor Shchegolev, Director General of Gazprom transgaz Nizhny Novgorod.

Gazprom transgaz Nizhny Novgorod team became the champion of the 9th Summer Spartakiada Games, beating the record of previous Spartakiada Games in terms of the points gained. The team won the first place in kettlebell lifting, swimming, football and basketball.
The silver medal of the Spartakiada Games was awarded to Gazprom transgaz Moscow team – the winner in men's and women's volleyball.

The bronze medal was awarded to Gazprom transgaz Yugorsk team – the winner of the track and field competitions.
Background
Gazprom holds Winter and Summer Spartakiada Gamesannually. The Games take place in cities and towns where Gazprom's subsidiaries are present. Both senior and junior Spartakiada Games are held among employees and children active in sports clubs of Gazprom's subsidiaries.
The main aim of the Spartakiada Games is establishing a healthy lifestyle of Gazprom team as well as younger generations. The Spartakiada Games enable to share the experience in developing the physical training and mass sport, maintaining sport traditions.
