Best Pipelayer Operator competition winners announced

Kursk hosted a vocational skills competition for the Gazprom Best Pipelayer Operator nomination.

The competition winners are as follows:

1st place – Andrey Bykov (Gazprom transgaz Moscow);

2nd place – Anton Osoblivets (Gazprom transgaz Yugorsk) and Vladimir Sidorkin (Gazprom transgaz Stavropol);

3rd place – Sergey Brasalin (Gazprom transgaz Volgograd), Sergey Dengin (Gazprom transgaz Samara) and Oleg Kashtanov (Gazprom transgaz Ufa).

When fulfilling the practical task, a contestant was supposed to mount a tee fitting (a pipeline detail with three outlets enabling to connect branches to the parent pipe) at a notional place of repair works within the shortest period possible.

Background

The vocational skills competition for the Gazprom Best Pipelayer Operator nomination took place for the first time. Participating in the competition were the qualifying round winners from 16 gas transmission companies of Gazprom.

The best pipelayer operator was determined by the judging panel based on the implementation results of theoretical and practical tasks.

The theoretical task comprised 20 questions related, inter alia, to pipelayer design and operation rules, health, safety and environment standards.

When fulfilling the practical task, a contestant was supposed to mount a tee fitting (a pipeline detail with three outlets enabling to connect branches to the parent pipe) at a notional place of repair works within the shortest period possible.
