Eliane Coelho is recognized as one of the world’s best sopranos. She was accompanied by the renowned Rachmaninov Trio – Victor Yampolsky (piano), Mikhail Tsinman (violin) and Natalya Savinova (cello).
Among the concert participants was Evgeny Knyazev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, head of Shchukin Higher Theatre College and actor of Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre.
The concert was held under the auspices of Gazprom.
“This is not our first performance in the Tretyakov Gallery, we are fond of the Vrubel Hall for its peculiar atmosphere of high art,” Viktor Yampolsky said. “Our guests, Evgeny Knyazev and Eliane Coelho, are a real crowning glory of this program”.
Always received with fervor by the audience, the Rachmaninov Trio played such chamber compositions by Robert Schumann as the Fantasy Pieces for piano, violin and cello; and the Fairy-Tale Pictures for cello and piano. Eliane Coelho who visited the best stages and sang with the world’s famous opera stars, performed Schumann’s song cycle, the Poet’s Love, which is the setting of Heine’s poems.
Since the idea behind the Masterpieces amid Masterpieces project was to demonstrate the synthesis of arts, the poetry recitation was an inalienable part of the event. The best examples of the German Romanticism were read by Evgeny Knyazev.
