RELEASE
Release
Today in Kaliningrad Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee and Georgy Boos, Governor of the Kaliningrad Oblast signed the 2008 synchronized construction schedule for gasification facilities.
The schedule determines the work scope and the gasification facilities commissioning period. Under the document, this year the Kaliningrad Oblast is planned to see the launch of seven investment projects covering 26 gasification facilities with a total length of more than 180 km.
Gazprom’s investments for designing gasification facilities and starting the preparatory work in the Kaliningrad Oblast in 2008 account for RUB 350 mln.
Background
The signing of a synchronized construction schedule for gasification facilities is linked with the execution by Gazprom of annual gasification programs for Russian Federation regions.
The schedule delimits the obligations of the gasification program participants. According to the document, Gazprom will perform the construction and installation work on lateral gas pipelines running to settlements and, as an exception, will build gas distribution pipelines inside settlements of the Kaliningrad Oblast. The regional authorities are responsible for preparing consumers for gas deliveries.
Gazprom and the Kaliningrad Oblast Administration signed a five-year Agreement of Cooperation in March 2005.
Between 2005 and 2007 Gazprom spent about RUB 812 mln in the Kaliningrad Oblast to construct five inter-settlement gas pipelines and intra-settlement distribution grids with a total length of over 120 km.
In 2007 Gazprom supplied the Kaliningrad Oblast consumers with more than 1.5 bcm of gas. This year supplies are projected at the level of 1.8 bcm.
The Kaliningrad Oblast is gasified with natural and liquefied gas at 92.4 per cent (95.2 per cent in cities and towns, and 81.7 percent in rural areas).
