Gazprom and Siemens AG enter into Strategic Partnership Agreement

Today, at the Gazprom Headquarters, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Peter Loscher, CEO of Siemens AG entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement.

The Agreement opens way to new opportunities for deeper cooperation between the companies in Russia and abroad.

The Agreement, in particular, identifies the following main directions of further interaction in the oil and gas sector: innovative development, automation, information technologies, telemechanics and telecommunications; power generation; compressor station equipment; offshore oil and gas field development technologies; building and installation safety systems; energy saving and ecology; new medical technologies; project financing.

Background

Gazprom and Siemens have been cooperating since 1993. The basic projects have been implemented in the area of telecommunications and technology process automation. In particular, the companies created a Moscow digital communication zone and data transmission network – Gazsvyaz, an automatic telephone exchange network – Kaspiygazprom and a communication network – Gaztelecom as well as automated a comprehensive gas treatment unit at the Yamburgskoye field.
