On visit to Slovenia

Headed by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee a Gazprom delegation paid a working visit to the Republic of Slovenia. Within the visit the delegation held talks with Danilo Turk, Slovenian President and Janez Jansa, Slovenian Prime Minister.
The meeting considered the prospects for cooperation in the gas area and discussed Slovenia’s possible participation in the South Stream project.
The parties confirmed their interest in strengthening the mutually beneficial long-term partnership between Russia and Slovenia.
Background
Russian natural gas has been supplied to Slovenia since 1978. In 2007 Gazprom export provided the Republic with circa 0.59 bcm of gas.
Natural gas import and distribution in Slovenia is overseen by Geoplin d.o.o. Ljubljana. In 2005 Gazprom export and by Geoplin d.o.o. Ljubljana signed a new contract for gas supply to the Republic of Slovenia till 2017.
