On working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov and Gennady Alexeev

Today the Gazprom Headquarters has hosted a working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Gennady Alexeev, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

The parties addressed issues of interaction within the Agreement of cooperation between the Sakha Republic and Gazprom. Additionally, the parties exchanged opinions on the draft Development Program for an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, with potential gas exports to China and other Asia Pacific markets.

The parties expressed a common opinion that the Program’s approval by the Russian Federation Government before the end of 2006 was of paramount significance for the gas industry development in the Russian East.

Background

Under the Russian Federation Government’s Directive from July 16, 2002, Gazprom was appointed as the implementation coordinator of the Development Program for an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, with potential gas exports to China and other Asia Pacific markets.

Possessing immense oil & gas reserves, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) is to play a crucial role in the Program being updated on the order of the President and Government of the Russian Federation. Yakutia’s natural gas fields are scheduled to be a resource base for gas deliveries to the Russian East and future gas exports to Asia Pacific.
