Gazprom and Central Institute of Aviation Motors ink Memorandum on Cooperation

Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Vladimir Skibin, General Director of the Central Institute of Aviation Motors named after P. I. Baranov (CIAM) have inked a three-year Memorandum on Cooperation between Gazprom and CIAM.
In accordance with the Memorandum, the basic areas of cooperation will be as follows:
- providing technical & economic efficiency assessment for measures stepped up by gas pumping unit (GPU) developers to enhance operational specifications of the gas turbine units (GTU) and gas injectors manufactured for Gazprom;
- involvement in developing GTU production requirements and technical tasks being in line with the present-day GTU technology standards as well as engineering solutions for a state-of-the-art gas turbine vehicle specifically intended for the use at Gazprom’s compressor stations;
- performing certification tests of GTU and their parts at CIAM’s stands;
- coming up with and implementing proposals to modernize GTU and their systems being operated by Gazprom’s subsidiaries.
Background
Founded in 1930, the Moscow-based Central Institute of Aviation Motors named after P.I. Baranov is the only Russian research establishment engaged in integrated studies and developments of aeroengines. Its activity covers fundamental research of physical processes as well as development and certification of new-generation engines together with design & construction bureaus and foreign companies.
