The results of Alexey Miller nd Peter Piotuch’s working meeting

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman, and Peter Piotuch, Beltransgaz’s director general, was held today at Gazprom’s headquarters.

The parties discussed the terms of Russian gas deliveries to Belarus as well as gas transit via the Republic in 2004. The parties intend to resume negotiations within the next few days.

Background

In 2003 Gazprom fully fulfilled its contractual obligations on gas deliveries to Belarus at prices applicable for Russia’s 5th price zone (RR 912 for 1000 cubic meters), having supplied 10.2 bcm of gas to the Republic.

Since January 1, 2004, Gazprom has stopped delivering gas to Belarusian consumers. The Republic has been receiving gas from independent suppliers. In January, gas deliveries to Belarus are expected to amount to some 2 bcm.
