Results of Alexander Ananenkov and Rustam Minnikhanov’s working meeting

A working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Acting Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan was held today at Gazprom’s Headquarters.
The meeting addressed issues in relation to the continuation of works aimed at intensifying gas consumption in the Republic and to the joint implementation of a program on use of gas as a motor fuel in Tatarstan.
At the end of the meeting, the parties achieved an accord to expand the range of fuel sold at Republican gasoline and gas-fuelling stations.
Alexander Ananenkov and Rustam Minnikhanov agreed on the participation of Tatarstan’s businesses in the XIV International Congress on Innovative Technologies for Oil & Gas Industry, Energy and Communications (CITOGIC-2004), to be held in the Astrakhan region this year.
In the parties’ opinion, the Congress could be attended by Tatarstan’s machine-building companies manufacturing equipment for gas-driven motor vehicles.
Background
Gazprom and the Republic of Tatarstan entered into a Cooperation Agreement on 21 March 2001.
The Agreement stipulates expansion of gas deliveries to cities, towns, districts and rural settlements of the Republic as well as implementation of highly effective projects on production of competitive output for Gazprom’s needs.
Since March 2001, over 19 thousand km of gas pipelines have been laid and some 400 thousand apartments have been built in Tatarstan. The Republican gas supply network is developed at 99.4%, in towns and cities and 95.1%, in rural area.
