Alexander Ananenkov and George Verberg
A working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and George Verberg, President of the International Gas Union (IGU), was held yesterday at Gazprom’s Headquarters. Bert Panman, the IGU’s Coordination Committee Chairman, also took part in the meeting.
The meeting addressed the issues of further cooperation between Gazprom and the IGU as well as of raising the efficiency of the IGU’s activities in core sectors of the global gas industry.
The parties exchanged opinions (on Gazprom’s initiative) on holding the XXV World Gas Congress in 2012 in Russia.
During his visit to Russia, George Verberg is expected to visit Gazprom’s facilities in the towns of Yamburg and Novy Urengoi.
Background
The International Gas Union (IGU) was founded in 1931. At present, the IGU comprises gas associations and companies from 67 countries of the world. The IGU is an authoritative international non-governmental organization representing a major center for analyzing and promoting the worldwide experience of the gas industry. Russia became the IGU member back in 1957 and, for the time being, is officially represented in the IGU by Gazprom.
George Verberg is, at the same time, Gazunie’s CEO and Eurogas’ Vice President.
