Yamal Peninsula gas depozits development problems discussed

Yamal Peninsula natural gas deposits development issues were discussed in a meeting held at Gazprom headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman, Gazprom Management Committee.

Vasily Podyuk, Member of the Management Committee, Head, Department of Gas, Gas Condensate and Oil Production, Mikhail Akselrod, Member of the Management Committee, Head, Department of Capital Construction and Transportation, Vyacheslav Ruksha, First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation experts, Gazprom officials and affiliated production companies’ top managers, research and scientific institutions involved in Russia petroleum industry development representatives attended the meeting.

Issues related to Yamal Peninsula deposits slated for priority development, time framework of the necessary documentation preparation and development program implementation, natural gas treatment and transmission technology, cargo delivery system were discussed at the meeting.

According to A. Ananenkov, the most important feature of the upcoming development is the minimization of expenses resulting from new technology utilization. Expenses reduction would result from a minimum necessary infrastructure construction on the Peninsula, and shift team production method.

The new gas pipeline system from Yamal Peninsula deposits will cross the city of Ukhta, and the length of the pipeline is going to be 1,500 km. Its construction is economically most efficient. Besides, it will allow having a necessary flow capacity reserve in the Yamburg – European Russia gas transportation direction for the transmission of independent companies’ produced gas originating in Bolshekhetskaya basin, Gidan and Taimir peninsulas.

A. Ananenkov emphasized that Yamal deposits development was going to be domestic-oriented in terms of pipe, drilling and gas transmission equipment manufacturing.

The meeting results include a number of decisions aimed at accelerating of preparatory work and implementation of the main deposits’ priority development program to facilitate necessary production and transmission volumes in accordance with the Russian Federation Energy Strategy.
