News from projects and regions
On January 27, the opening ceremony for the Spartanets (Spartan) martial arts hall took place in the Ust-Udinsky District of the Irkutsk Region. The project was implemented with financial support from Gazprom Nedra under the agreement of cooperation between the company and the municipality.
The new sports facility is designed to be a training ground for about 360 young people and adults living in the district. Thanks to the assistance provided by Gazprom Nedra, the facility was equipped with changing rooms, and a mat for sambo classes was purchased for athletes.
Sergey Chemezov, Head of the Ust-Udinsky District, described the opening of the Spartanets martial arts hall as another important milestone in the history of sports in the municipality. He addressed his fellow countrymen on social media, saying: “Now, our athletes can enjoy unique conditions for improving their achievements and results; a comfortable environment has been created in the modern hall for sambo, judo, boxing, and freestyle wrestling.”
The opening ceremony of the new sports hall was celebrated with the traditional annual interdistrict sambo competition which brought together 64 athletes from the settlements of the Irkutsk Region. “We are happy that the wrestling mat, which is a gift from our company, became the first to have successfully passed the endurance test. We hope that the spirit of fair sports rivalry and the desire for a healthy lifestyle will always distinguish the students of Spartanets,” Vsevolod Cherepanov, Director General of Gazprom Nedra, commented on the event.
