Sports and health center opens under Gazprom for Children program in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl Region

On February 28, the opening ceremony for a sports and health center with a swimming pool and a multi-purpose gym built under the Gazprom for Children program took place in the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky (Yaroslavl Region).
The new sports facility, with its total area of over 4,000 square meters, accommodates a multi-purpose gym with team sports area, a gym for warm-up and two swimming pools, one for swimming and the other for training. The sports center is designed for training sessions in table tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, futsal, and swimming. It is accessible for people with limited mobility and can accommodate a maximum of 92 people per shift.
Taking part in the event were Vera Dargel, Deputy Chairman of the Yaroslavl Region Government, Alexander Tarasenko, Acting Head of Pereslavl-Zalessky, and Alexey Kravchenko, First Deputy Director General of Gazprom's Fund for Supporting Social Initiatives.
“More than 500,000 residents of our region, both children and adults, are regularly engaged in physical and sports activities. Thanks to the Gazprom for Children program, another shining beacon of healthy lifestyle and harmonious development will appear here in Pereslavl for our children. We are expecting impressive victories from coaches and future students, but even more important are great mood, children's laughter and the health of the local residents!” were the encouraging words of Vera Dargel.
Background
The Gazprom for Children project is one of the key social initiatives of the Company aimed at creating a favorable environment for harmonious intellectual, cultural and physical development of children and youth, as well as attracting as many youngsters to sports and arts as possible.
Since 2007, over 2,000 modern sports facilities have been built under the project, including more than 200 sports and health centers. The project covers 74 Russian regions.
In the Yaroslavl Region, a total of 43 sports facilities have been delivered since 2008, including 32 newly-built multi-purpose sports grounds and six sports centers and five renovated facilities.
