From February 21 to 24, the city of Novy Urengoy hosted the annual Open Ice Hockey Tournament among adult teams for the Cup of Director General of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy.
The ice arena of the Fakel Sports Center brought together eight teams from Orenburg, Beloyarsky, Strezhevoy, Noyabrsk, and Novy Urengoy.
The Cup went to the Fakel hockey team (Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy), while Novator (Novatek-Yurkharovneftegaz) and the Beloyarskoye Emergency Response & Recovery Directorate (Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk) came second and third, respectively.
Based on the results of the tournament, the best players were selected in several categories. Aleksey Semyonov (Fakel Hockey Club) was named the best goalkeeper in the contest, Vyacheslav Ananyev (Fakel Hockey Club) became the best defenseman, Vasily Mordvinov (Novator Hockey Club) was declared the best forward, and the title of the best scorer went to Maxim Sindimirov (Beloyarskoye Emergency Response & Recovery Directorate).
Representatives from the city administration, the subsidiary company, and the United Primary Trade Union Organization congratulated the winners, presented them with commemorative diplomas and monetary vouchers, and thanked the teams for the spectacular and action-packed game.
Background
Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, was set up to develop the Urengoyskoye oil, gas and condensate field, one of the largest in the world.
