News from projects and regions
Over 5,000 employees of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk and their families took part in the Immortal Regiment event on Victory Day dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. As usual, the highest number of gas workers who joined the ranks of the Immortal Regiment – 1,500 people – was registered in Tomsk. It had been in Tomsk where the nationwide event was conceived. In Novosibirsk, 250 gas workers paraded the streets with banners and flowers, and there were just as many event participants in Omsk. Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk employees from Kemerovo, Yurga, Irkutsk, Barabinsk, and all of 22 company branches located in Western and Eastern Siberia and the Far East also took part in the celebrations.
“Our employees are active citizens,” said Anatoly Titov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk. “Well ahead of the celebrations, each and every one of our branches started organizing events, activities, and volunteer campaigns to help veterans, homefront workers, and lonely elderly people. And they did it of their own accord, to fulfill their duty of remembrance. Today, we have to prove, through honest and responsible work, that we are worthy of the memory of all who won that Victory.”
Every branch of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk took part in Victory Day events. Gas workers organized charitable campaigns, volunteer cleanups, and celebrations, as well as purchased gifts for veterans and the company’s sponsored organizations. The Sakhalin branch, among others, held a special event for war veterans and homefront workers living in a retirement home in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Prior to the celebration, the branch arranged the Gas Workers for Veterans charitable campaign, raising funds to buy household appliances for the retirement home. Meanwhile, the Komsomolsk-on-Amur branch assisted the district council of war and labor veterans in holding the annual amateur arts festival of primary veteran organizations. On May 9, the Khabarovskoye Gas Pipeline Operation Center opened a traditional field kitchen in the center of Khabarovsk, on the bank of the Amur River. During the event, 3,000 Khabarovsk citizens and guests had a taste of authentic soldier porridge cooked according to the traditional recipe.
On the eve of the holiday, the company rendered financial assistance to regional veteran councils. The Veteran Council of the Kargasok District received funds for conducting the Saint George's Ribbon and Candle of Memory national events. Gas workers also helped arrange ceremonial events in the Parabel District and the town of Kedrovy.
