Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg and the Children’s Art Center of the Orenburg Region organized a joint patriotic action named the Carpet of Peace dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Schoolchildren from the Orenburg Region and other regions of Russia were invited to participate in the creation of a big patchwork carpet reflecting their vision of the world, the Great Victory, the heroic deed of their great-grandparents and the entire Soviet nation.
The creators of the Carpet of Peace represented schools, gymnasiums, lyceums and beyond-classroom activity centers of the Orenburg Region, the Tatar Republic, the Komi Republic, the Chechnya Republic, Crimea, Dagestan, the Perm Territory, the Novosibirsk Region and the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as well as from abroad – Turkey, Lebanon, Norway and Tajikistan.

The project resulted in about 800 creative art pieces made by children, and the best 197 fragments were patched in the Carpet of Peace.

This large carpet is 30 square meters. It is exhibited in Orenburg, in the central lobby of the Gazovik Cultural and Sports Center. All visitors are free to see it. Just before the Great Victory anniversary, a number of events involving children from Orenburg and other areas of the Region will be held right by the Carpet of Peace.
All participants will receive diplomas. The authors of the best fragments included into the Carpet of Peace will get valuable gifts.

Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Gazprom. Its core business is production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbon feedstock.
