The presentation of the third (reprinted) version of the Great Heroic Deed wartime photo album took place at Gazprom VNIIGAZ. This reprint was dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory and linked to the 50th Anniversary of the first issue of the album. The album comprises photos taken by battlefield journalists at all the stages of the Great Patriotic War: starting from the heaviest hardships of the first war months until the triumphant May of 1945. The authors of the photos are legendary Soviet battlefield journalists – Dmitry Baltermantz, Evgeny Khaldey, Anatoly Egorov, Yakov Ryumkin and others. The heir of Alexey Volgemut, the first compiling editor – Ernest Volgemut, PhD holder in Engineering Sciences, Chief Research Associate of Gazprom VNIIGAZ, initiated the reprint.
Pavel Tsybulsky, Director General of Gazprom VNIIGAZ, opened the presentation. For Gazprom VNIIGAZ the preparation and issue of this reprint edition has a historical and educational purpose, and it is not a commercial project. The album is to be distributed among educational institutions, veteran organizations, trade unions and non-governmental organizations.
During the event several copies of the album were presented to the authors’ heirs, as well as to cultural and educational institutions. The album was given to secondary schools in the Razvilka settlement and the Lenin farm cooperative in the Leninsky District of the Moscow Region, St. Seraphim of Sarov Orthodox Center for Continuing Education, Marshal Poluboyarov secondary school No. 982 in Moscow, Vidnovskaya high school, the History and Culture Center and the Inter-urban library in the Leninsky District of the Moscow Region as well as the Gorky Leninskiye State Museum-Reserve. Some of the reprinted albums were handed over to organizations – members of Neftegazstroyprofsoyuz (union of oil and gas industry workers) of Russia.
The event participants learnt a lot about the war biographies of photo journalists and many wartime photos from Ernest Volgemut, Chief Research Associate of Gazprom VNIIGAZ and the son of Alexey Volgemut, the first compiling editor.
The guests demonstrated great interest in the exhibition of wartime documents and photos called ‘To Winners’ Generation – with Love’. Gazprom VNIIGAZ employees, whose relatives fought in the lines of the Great Patriotic War, provided materials for the exhibition.
