In Tambey, one of the northernmost parts of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, Gazprom Geologorazvedka carries out recultivation activities for collecting waste left from the Soviet times.
Presently the company has summed up the results of the first stage of the environmental project. 23 hectares of tundra was cleared in the Ob Bay vicinities. Some 900 tons of waste metal, 800 tons of waste wood as well as 400 tons of different household waste was collected.
“Yamal is our company’s strategic region, we carry out geological exploration activities in the northernmost licensed blocks of the Peninsula. Placing a priority on environmental care, we advanced the initiative of implementing the project for clearing Tambey’s lands of the massive ‘heritage’ left by the Soviet-era companies,” said Alexey Davydov, Director General of Gazprom Geologorazvedka.
Recultivation activities for waste collection started in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area within the Year of Environmental Awareness at Gazprom.
