As part of the All-Russian Running Day, the Nation’s Cross-Country Race wide-scale competition took place on September 22 in the Dedurovka settlement of the Orenburg District and the Perevolotsky settlement of the Perevolotsk District, Orenburg Region.
This sports celebration is organized every year by Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg jointly with the authorities of the Orenburg and Perevolotsk Districts, Orenburg Region.
All in all, over six thousand employees of the companies affiliated to Gazprom in Orenburzhye non-commercial partnership as well as the population of rural areas entered the Race.
Twelve 1-, 1.5- and 2-kilometer races were held, including the scratch race. Six leaders in each race received awards.
Mikail Khalilov, the youngest participant of the Race is just one year old. With the help of his father Ramin Khalilov he covered a symbolic distance of 100 meters. 78-year-old Valentin Vekker, veteran of the Orenburg Gas Production Directorate of Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is the most mature participant. He took part in hundreds of track-and-field meets on different levels, including international marathons in Moscow, Prague, Berlin and Buffalo (USA).
“We actively cooperate with the population of the region where Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg operates,” said Vasily Stolypin, Deputy Director General of Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg. “Today, when all Russia is on the starting line, it is just impossible to stand aside. Not only does our company organize the Nation’s Cross-Country Race, but our employees and their families participate in it with great pleasure.”
Background
Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, mainly focused on production treatment and transmission of hydrocarbon feedstock. The company comprises ten structural units, including Europe’s largest gas processing plant as well as the only helium plant in the Russian Federation.
The company turns out over 20 types of commercial products, including 100 per cent of Russia’s helium and odorant as well as 80 per cent of ethane.
The ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system is introduced at the company that employs more than 10 thousand people.
Public sports and health events held by Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg jointly with the Orenburg and Perevolotsk District Administrations have already become a tradition.
Apart from the Nation’s Cross-Country Race, the annual All-Russian Ski Track, the table tennis tournament among the teams of village and settlement councils, the Dedurovskaya Height track-and-field tournament as well as the Perevolotsk track-and-field marathon are held.
