News from projects and regions
The Novo-Lenino district of Irkutsk hosted today an opening ceremony of a versatile children’s sports ground built under the Gazprom for Children program. Taking part in the ceremony were Roman Sakhartov, Deputy Head of the Information and Communications Department of Gazprom, Andrey Tatarinov, Director General of Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk, Svetlana Kulinich, Chairwoman of the Irkutsk branch of the Russian Children’s Fund, Pavel Nikitin, Minister of Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk Region and Anton Logashov, Deputy Mayor of Irkutsk.
The opening of the sports ground in Novo-Lenino is a part of the second stage of the Gazprom for Children program in the Irkutsk Region. In particular, five grounds have already been commissioned this year: at the Dynamo stadium in Irkutsk, in the Kazachinsko-Lensky and Zhigalovsky Districts as well as at the premises of Irkutsk schools No. 16 and 39.
In 2009 during the first stage of the program Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk with Gazprom’s support built 15 versatile sports facilities with safety surfaces.
“The Gazprom for Children program is the major social project of Gazprom. The Irkutsk Region has justly become a part of the program as it is the area of the Irkutsk gas production center, one of the benchmarks of the Eastern Gas Program,” Roman Sakhartov stressed in his speech.
“While developing its production activities in the Irkutsk Region, Gazprom Group pays great attention to the social element, particularly, to promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle,” said Andrey Tatarinov at the opening ceremony. “This year one more opening ceremony will take place – in the Solnechny district. Our sports grounds are ideal for a year-round use in harsh Siberian conditions. I am sure that they all will become the sites for new sports achievements.”
Right after the ceremony a traditional friendly futsal game was held at the sports ground and players received prizes and souvenirs from Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk.
