The Gazprom Sotsinvest technicians completed the construction of steel structures for the upper station building of the 3S aerial cableway connecting the Alpika Service Resort and the Biathlon and Ski Complex on the Psekhako Ridge. The total weight of steel structures reached 355 tons. The installation of the 3S aerial cableway main equipment has been completed as well, including carrying cables and driveway, cable cars, main and standby engines and the cableway control room.
The roofing of the 3S aerial cableway upper station and the installation of the power supply system are currently in progress. The arrangement of the facility protection is underway as well.
With the length exceeding 5 kilometers, the aerial cableway is anticipated to be the longest route of a kind worldwide. A cable car is designed for hauling 30 persons at once; the cableway capacity comes to 3,000 persons hourly in each direction. The facility is scheduled for commissioning in autumn 2013.
Background
Gazprom Sotsinvest is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. The company is carrying out the construction of Olympic infrastructure facilities in Krasnaya Polyana near Sochi, namely, the Integrated Biathlon and Ski Complex, the Mountain Olympic Village, Phase 2 of Gazprom’s Mountain Tourist Center and is implementing projects for Gazprom on construction of several major facilities in Saint Petersburg, the Central and the Southern Federal Districts of the Russian Federation.
