The Gazprom Group specialists continue to construct the facilities in Krasnaya Polyana as part of preparations for the 2014 Sochi international sports competitions. At one of the most important transport facilities, future passenger 3S aerial cableway, all pillars have been installed, including five main and one transformer pillars, the pillars height is from 39 to 78.5 meters.
The builders have moved over to a new stage in operations – laying of cables has been started. The metal cables with the total length of 35 kilometers were delivered to Krasnaya Polyana in 6 spools each weighing more than 100 tons. In order to transport this cargo, it was necessary to use special vehicles with higher cargo capacity and large dimensions.
The aerial cableway is more than 5 kilometers long and will connect two large Gazprom complexes in Krasnaya Polyana: the biathlon and ski stadium located on the Psekhako Ridge and the Alpika Service transport hub encompassing the terminal station of the Adler Airport – Alpika Service railway, the low station of the aerial cableway of the health resort. A cabin of the 3S aerial cableway is designed to carry 30 passengers at a time, its throughput is 3,000 passengers per hour in each direction. The aerial cableway is scheduled to become operational in autumn 2013.
