On November 12 a sports complex of the secondary school in the Dedurovka settlement of the Orenburg Oblast hosted 7th Open Table Tennis Tournament among village teams for Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg prizes as part of the Gazprom for Children program.
Taking part in the Tournament were teams from Orenburg, Sol-Iletsk, Saraktash, Oktyabrskoye Districts of the Orenburg city.
The Tournament embraced nearly 200 amateur sportsmen in six age categories, 70 per cent of the participants were children.
Cups and valuable gifts were given to the winners by Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg administration and structural units’ representatives. The most successful were sportsmen from the Orenburg District (19 prizes) and Sol-Iletsk District (14 prizes).
Background
Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. The company is primarily focused on hydrocarbons production, processing and transmission.
The Dedurovka settlement of the Orenburg District is situated in the central part of the Orenburg oil, gas and condensate field. Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg Gas Production Directorate is located at the distance of less than five kilometers from the settlement.
Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg and the Orenburg District Administration traditionally organize in the Dedurovka settlement the largest health and fitness events: Nations Cross, Lyzhnya Rossii, All-national Dedurovskaya Vysota track and field tournament, tournament for village inhabitants and children tournaments Dedurov racket (table tennis). As part of the Gazprom for Children program a track and field stadium was reconstructed, modern equipment for the high jump sector and table tennis equipment were purchased.
Traditionally, the table tennis tournaments are considered to be wide-scale. Every village or city inhabitant at the age of 7 to 70 can take part in the tournament. For the first time the tournament took place among village inhabitants in 2005. During the 7 year period the number of participants has grown twofold.
