Mass media representatives visited the Adler automated gas distribution station (AGDS) construction site for the first time as part of a press tour to Gazprom’s Olympic infrastructure facilities in Sochi. The station is located in the Adler district of Sochi. The AGDS construction is performed in order to convey gas to Adler TPP, Olympic Venues and population centers. Natural gas conveyed to the AGDS under high pressure from the gas trunkline is distributed for further supply under reduced pressure to industrial and social facilities as well as residential areas. Downstream pressure after the AGDS is 1.2 MPa. The annual capacity for residential consumers is 85.2 million cubic meters, for industrial consumers – 844.5 million cubic meters. Gazprom is investing the construction while Peter Gaz acts as a customer.

“General infrastructure construction operations allowing for large-scale gas transmission to Sochi are nearly completed. The Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline has been constructed with several gas distribution stations. The Adler AGDS is one of the final facilities,” Oleg Sergeev, Director General of Peter Gaz said.

Matvey Geller, Head of the Special Projects and Studies Division under the Information and Communications Department of Gazprom noted that, “The Sochi residents have recently entered into a brand new stage of their city development. Large-scale tourist, road and social infrastructure development projects came to the region together with the Olympic Games. Another new stage is coming soon in the region simultaneously with the increasing volumes of gas supply. This stage can be described as a stage of opportunities since the most ambitious plans on the Black Sea coast and Sochi development can be implemented only with the sufficient amount of energy resources.”
