Today at 10:45 am local time Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy achieved a new milestone: on its 35th anniversary the company produced a total of 6.5 trillion cubic meters of gas.
It is a new world record set by one company which produced gas from one field. The first record – 6 trillion cubic meters of gas produced in 2008 was also set by Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy and officially registered in the Russian Book of Records.
The history of gas production from Russia’s largest Urengoy oil, gas and condensate field started on April 22, 1978 when the Urengoy gas was conveyed from the first gas deposit of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy to the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia. A month later, in May 1987, the first billion cubic meter of valuable hydrocarbon feedstock was produced. In 1987 the field produced 306 billion cubic meters. For reference: in 2012 all Gazprom Group’s companies produced 487 billion cubic meters of gas.
Over thirty five years Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy has produced natural gas, gas condensate and oil, treated hydrocarbon feedstock and shaped the resource base. The company holds licenses for exploration and development activities within the Urengoyskaya, Pestsovaya, Severo-Samburgskaya, Yuzhno-Pestsovaya and Vostochno-Padinskaya subsurface areas as well as for the development of the Cenomanian deposit of the Severo-Urengoyskoye oil, gas and condensate field.
