International Chess Federation

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) unites 190 national chess federations. It was founded in 1924 in Paris under the motto “Gens una Sumus” (Latin for “We are one Family”). Today, FIDE is headquartered in Switzerland.

FIDE organizes Chess Olympiads, world championships, and other global events.

In April 2021, Gazprom became the General Partner of the International Chess Federation up to 2024.

The partnership covers FIDE’s flagship events: the 2021 and 2023 World Cups, the 2022 World Chess Olympiad, as well as World Team Championships, Women's Grand Prix series of chess tournaments, and World Junior Chess Championships.
