Alexey Miller's column
“The tower's height of 703 meters is highly symbolic. It is a tribute to history – the year in which the great city with an enormous wealth of culture and history and a unique spirit was founded.
Lakhta Center 2 continues the traditions of St. Petersburg, as the Peter and Paul Fortress, which was founded by Peter the Great in the early 18th century, was also one of the world's tallest buildings at the time.
By creating a core for an emerging modern center in the area of the Lakhta Center, we will not only make a step forward in all spheres of urban development, but also manage to preserve the historic districts of St. Petersburg just as we know and love them.”
“The creation of a complex for processing ethane-containing gas and the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant is a practical manifestation of Gazprom’s new economic model for the comprehensive monetization of the Company’s hydrocarbon resources. The simultaneous production of ethane and liquefied natural gas makes it possible to considerably improve the financial and economic indicators of the project; to provide not only resource sustainability for feeding gas into the Unified Gas Supply System of the Russian Federation but also resource support for the project; and to balance the influence of the price environment.”
“Here in the northwestern part of Russia, in the Leningrad Region, we have launched the construction of a fundamentally new and high-tech industrial cluster. It is essential for the region and the country at large. Advanced processing is the most efficient way to maximize the potential of the immense reserves of ethane-containing gas in Russia.”
